what is modulation? How to convert Baseband to Passband signal?

Modulation:

Definition 1:

The process of converting baseband signal  to passband signal is called MODULATION !!.

Definition 2:

Modulation is a process to empower a data signal (audio, video ,text or other information) so that it can gain power and to be transmitted through a long distance transmission media .

Definition 3:

Modulation processes the message signal to convert it to carrier signal to transmit it through transmission medium.

How to convert baseband signal  to passband signal?

The process of converting baseband signal  to passband signal is called MODULATION !!.

figure: Modulation

In the modulation process a baseband signal (information signal or message signal, m(t) in the figure above) is to be multiplied or mixed with a high frequency carrier signal typically sinusoid (cos(wct) in the figure above) which produces a high frequency modulated signal(m(t)cos(wct) in the figure above).

For example FM,AM signals are best example of passband signal.
